NATIONAL

  • PM meets Kashmiri pandits: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a special interaction with a 17-member delegation of Kashmiri Pandits in Houston and he assured them of “building a new Kashmir” which would be for everyone.
  • Koneru Humpy:  Koneru Humpy today won the first leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix series after finishing her campaign unbeaten. the event took place at the Russian village of Skolkovo.
  • CBI issued summons: A special CBI court on September 21, issued summons to former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and BJP leader Kalyan Singh, directing him to appear before it on September 27 in connection with the Babri Masjid demolition case.
  • CBDT: On September 21, the Central Board of Direct Tax (CBDT) has newly set up National e-Assessment Centre (NeAC) for electronically assessing the tax returns which would reduce the human interventions thereby reducing the possibility of corruption. CBDT has also appointed 1984 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Krishna Mohan Prasad as the first Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr.CCIT) of NeAC.
  • Ladakhi Dance: Shondol dance, which is best known as the royal dance used to be performed by artists for King of Ladakh, has created history by entering into the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest Ladakhi dance.
  •  MP’s Brand Ambassador: Public Relations Minister of Madhya Pradesh government PC Sharma notified that Indian Bollywood actor Govinda, aged 55, is appointed as the brand ambassador of Madhya Pradesh to promote the state’s traditions and tourist places. The government also has plans to set up a film city in the state.
  • First woman president of TNCA: Former BCCI president N Srinivasan will maintain his stronghold over Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) with his daughter Rupa Gurunath.It is all set that she would become the first woman president of TNCA, a BCCI affiliated unit during its AGM on September 26.
  • Terrorist: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Jharkhand Police has arrested an Al-Qaeda terrorist Mohammad Kallimuddin Muzahiri near Tatanagar railway station Jamshedpur, a senior police officer said on Sunday.

INTERNATIONAL

  • Kashmir in Abroad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a “special interaction” with a 17-member delegation of Kashmiri Pandits in Houston and assured them of “building a new Kashmir” which would be for everyone.
  • Iran: Iran will present a security plan for the Gulf at the United Nations General Assembly this week, said President Hassan Rouhani, while warning foreign forces to “stay away” from the region. “Foreign forces can cause problems and insecurity for our people and for our region,” said Rouhani, who will travel to New York City later this week for the annual gathering of world leaders at the UN.
  • Afganistan : At least 39 people killed and 90 wounded in a suicide attack carried out by the Taliban in the southern city of Qalat.
  • Foreign Aids: US cuts $160m aid to Afghanistan as Pompeo accuses Afghanistan’s government of failing to fight corruption a week before presidential election.
  • Pakistan: Gulalai Ismail, 33, an award-winning activist and prominent feminist is in the United States seeks US asylum.
  • Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka to hold presidential election on November 16. After 2015 constitutional amendment, the next president will have fewer powers than his predecessors.

  • Energy: PM Modi meets energy sector CEOs in US, discusses investments.
