Bilkis Bano: The Supreme Court today ordered the Gujarat government to pay compensation of Rs 50 lakh to Gujarat riots survivor Bilkis Bano within two weeks and declined to reconsider its decision. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi directed the state to provide her a job and accommodation within two weeks.
Money laundering case on Shibkumar: The Delhi High Court today sought response of the Enforcement Directorate on the bail plea of Karnataka Congress leader D K Shivakumar in a money laundering case. Shivakumar, arrested in a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by the ED, approached the high court challenging the trial court’s order denying him bail. The court issued notice to ED and asked it to file a status report and listed the matter for further hearing on October 14.
Farooq Abdullah: The Supreme Court today refused to further entertain Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko’s plea seeking production of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah before it and said the MDMK leader can challenge the detention order under the Public Safety Act.”He (Abdullah) is under detention under the Public Safety Act,” a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi told Vaiko’s counsel.
Polls in J&K: Amid shutdown in Kashmir valley post scrapping of Article 370, the election authority on 29th September said that the polls for block development council in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on October 24.Chief electoral officer (CEO) Shailendra Kumar announced the schedule for elections to 310 block development councils (BDC) at a press conference in Srinagar.
Pakistan policy: Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has said that the surgical strikes have sent across a message that the Line of Control (LoC) will be “sacrosanct” so long as Pakistan does not vitiate the atmosphere. Rawat also said that it would no longer be “hide and seek” and if India had to cross the border, it would do so through air, ground route or both.
Model Fruits &Vegetable market: In a move to ensure safe and quality fruits and vegetables for the public, the Kerala Commissionerate of Food Safety is gearing up to set up model fruits and vegetable markets in the state. The Commissionerate has selected five markets run by Horticorp and Vegetable Fruit Promotion Council Kerala (VDPCK) for the model market project. The plan is to upgrade the markets as per the norms set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)

Attack on Iran: Iran’s oil minister told the petroleum industry on September 29, to be on alert to physical and cyber attacks, amid heightened tensions with the United States in the Gulf region.US media reports have said Washington was considering possible cyber attacks against Iran after the Sept. 14 attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil sites, which US officials blamed on Tehran. Iran has denied the charge.
World Economic Forum: The 50th Edition of World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting for 2020 will be held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland from January 21-24, 2020. FPI: Overseas investors have pulled out over Rs 20,000 crore ($3 billion) from Indian equities during the third quarter of the calendar year 2019, the steepest quarterly outflow since the October –December 2016 quarter, when they had pulled out Rs 31,222 crore ($4.6 billion) from the equity market. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have sold equity shares net amounting of Rs 21,592 crore ($3.09 billion) between July and September 26, according to the latest available depository data.
