DIWALI: Green crackers with 30 per cent less emissions have entered the market, Union Minister Harsh Vardhan announced on Saturday, noting that the step has been taken so that people’s sentiments are taken care of without harming the environment.


Narada Sting case: Mathew Samuel has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning in the Narada sting case, TMC lawmaker Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said today. Samuel, who is the editor and managing director of Narada news portal, has been asked to appear on 7th, 8th and 9th October for questioning. He had, in 2016, broadcast a sting video on his news portal just before the commencement of the state Assembly elections.In the video, a number of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, including MPs and ministers, were allegedly seen taking money on camera.

Mizoram: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga today told visiting Union Home Minister Amit Shah that the people of Mizoram opposed to the proposed amendment to the Citizenship Act, 1955. The Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 could open a “floodgate of illegal immigrants” in Mizoram, an official statement said.

PMC Bank: The Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police today arrested Waryam Singh, former chairman of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank in connection with the alleged Rs 4,355 crore scam at the bank. This is a fourth arrest in the case.

Nomadic Elephant-XIV: The 14th edition of the Indo – Mongolian joint military training exercise Nomadic Elephant-XIV for the year 2019, has begun today at Bakloh in Himachal Pradesh. This 14-day exercise will continue till October 18, 2019. The aim of the exercise is to train both the armies in counter-terrorism as well as counter-insurgency (counter revolt) operations and thus enhancing defence cooperation.

OIL: On October 2, the second-largest hydrocarbon exploration and production Indian public sector company, Oil India Limited (OIL) appointed Sushil Chandra Mishra as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the company. He succeeds Utpal Bora and will hold his post till June 30, 2022.

GAME: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the first-ever NBA match in the country as a historic moment for India-US relations.

Abdullah : A delegation of National Conference from Jammu province has been granted permission by the Jammu and Kashmir administration to meet party president Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah, who are currently under detention on Sunday.


Entry of immigrants: US President Donald Trump on 4th October signed a proclamation suspending entry of immigrants who cannot pay for their healthcare costs and will not be covered by health insurance within 30 days of entering the United States. The proclamation, issued by the White House, said it would not affect any individual’s eligibility for asylum or refugee status. The measure will take effect on November 3, it said.

Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday asked the residents of PoK not to cross the Line of Control to extend humanitarian aid to the Kashmiri people after India removed the special status of the state two months back.

Bangladesh: India and Bangladesh today inked seven pacts and launched three projects after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held wide-ranging talks with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina. One of the projects included import of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) from Bangladesh for distribution in the North Eastern states.

Smart Cities Index 2019: On October 4, in the first ever conducted International Institute for Management Development’s (IMD’s) Smart Cities Index 2019, Hyderabad topped among the Indian cities with the rank of 67. It was followed by New Delhi at rank 68. Mumbai and Bengaluru were ranked at the 78th and 79th positions respectively. The list was topped by Singapore.

International Children’s Peace Prize:  The international organisation for the defence of children’s rights KidsRights Foundation will felicitate Sweden’s climate activist Greta Thunberg, aged 16, and peace campaigner Cameroon’s Divina Maloum, aged 14, with the 15th International Children’s Peace Prize for 2019 on November 20, 2019 at a ceremony in The Hague, Netherlands on World Children’s Day.

Disinvestment: The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the new policy for a new process of strategic disinvestment with a view to expedite privatisation of selected Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Disinvestment is the action of an organization or government selling or liquidating an asset or subsidiary. The government has set a target of mobilising Rs 1.05 lakh crore from disinvestment proceeds. It will help the government to achieve the target of keeping fiscal deficit at 3.3% of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2020.

Youth Co:Lab : On October 4, the Atal Innovation Mission(AIM) of NITI Aayog (National Institute for Transforming India) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India of United Nations Sustainable Development Framework (UNSDF) launched a youth lab programme, Youth Co:Lab by signing a Letter of Intent(LoI) in-order to  empower innovation and social entrepreneurship to the youths of India.  By this initiative entrepreneurs and innovators will connect with government, mentors, incubators and other investors to gain entrepreneurial skills.

Electric Vehicle (EV): On October 4, the Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy (IC) and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri RK Singh approved the amendment in Electric Vehicle (EV) charging guidelines and specifications. This amendment will supersede the previous guidelines issued by power ministry in 2018 with the revised guidelines being more consumers friendly. These revised guidelines will also help in faster adoption of EVs. Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a statutory body under Ministry of Power has been nominated as the Central Nodal Agency for providing the guidelines.

NHA & Google: On October 4, the National Health Authority (NHA) and the Amercian multinational company, Google partnered together for strengthening the implementation of the national health protection scheme, Ayushman Bharat Pratan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).

ICICI Bank: On October 4, Indian multinational banking and financial services company, ICICI Bank (Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India) has tied up with Common Service Centre e-Governance Services India Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle(CSC SPV) to expand its reach to villages and remote towns. People living in rural areas will be able to deposit money in their bank accounts through CSC, withdrawal and transfer of money to another account will also be possible. Apart from this, people will also get facilities like investment in bank’s term deposit schemes and low value loans.


एमबीबीएस कोर्स-सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने केंद्र सरकार को सरकारी मेडिकल कॉलेजों में एमबीबीएस कोर्स में विदेशी और उत्तर पूर्व राज्यों के अभ्यर्थियों को अप्रूवल की जानकारी 15 दिन पहले देने का निर्देश दिया है। यह निर्देश प्रायोजित (स्पॉन्सर) अभ्यर्थियों को होने वाली परेशानी और अंतिम समय की हड़बड़ी को दूर करने के लिए दिया गया है। जस्टिस एल नागेश्वर राव और जस्टिस हेमंत गुप्ता की पीठ ने सालों से हो रही इस परेशानी को ध्यान में रखते सरकार को अप्रूवल की जानकारी हर वर्ष 15 अगस्त से पहले देने को कहा है।
साल 2015 में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने आलोक रंजन बनाम केंद्र सरकार मामले में देश के मेडिकल कॉलेजों में एमबीबीएस कोर्स में दाखिले के लिए आखिरी तारीख 31 अगस्त निर्धारित की थी। सरकारी मेडिकल कॉलेजों में एमबीबीएस कोर्स में दाखिले में सेंट्रल पूल के जरिए विभिन्न देशों, उत्तर पूर्व राज्यों व केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के छात्रों के लिए सीटें आवंटित होती हैं।
