Ayodhya land dispute : While concluding the hearing in Ayodhya land dispute after 40 days, a 5-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, granted three days to contesting parties to file written notes on ‘moulding of relief’ or narrowing down the issues on which the court is required to adjudicate. Today supreme court has seen high drama as Muslim counsel Rajeev Dhavan tears map showing Lord Ram’s birthplace. From 17th the judges will sit in chambers for writing judgment.

New Delhi: Former Congress leader P Chidambaram was arrested today by a three-member team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after an hour-long interrogation. He is already in Tihar jail in connection with other corruption case.

Supreme Court today said it will pronounce order on October 23 on a plea seeking recusal of Justice Arun Mishra from the 5-judge Constitution bench which is hearing challenge to the validity of provisions related to compensation in the Land Acquisition Act. The bench comprising Indira Banerjee, Vineet Sharan, M R Shah and S Ravindra Bhat, has concluded the hearing on the plea made by various farmers associations and private individuals seeking the recusal of Justice Mishra. Justice Mishra was part of a verdict in February last year which held that land acquisition by a government agency could not be quashed for delay on the part of land owners in accepting compensation within five years due to reasons such as lingering court cases.

Child Pornography : The U.S. and Korean authorities unearthed a Darknet that supplies child pornography through a site, called Welcome to Video, one of the world’s largest markets for child pornography. Woo Son, 23, who operated a Darknet market that accepted Bitcoin and distributed more than 1 million sexually explicit videos involving children. He is serving 18 months in prison after being convicted there.The site, which encouraged users to upload videos, included hundreds of thousands of illicit images not previously seen by authorities. Woo Son was indicted under seal in Washington in August 2018 on child pornography and money laundering charges.
