Bail: P Chidambaram was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Wednesday in the money laundering case linked to the INX Media case. Court imposed condition that he cannot leave the country without the permission of the special court trying his case. Justice Bopanna said Chidambaram will also have to cooperate in the investigation and not make any statements to the press relating to the case. The court order categorically mentioned that Chidambaram should not attempt to influence the witnesses or tamper with the evidence.
Citizenship Bill Cleared: The Union Cabinet cleared the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill seeking to grant citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan if they faced religious persecution. Information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar made the announcement on Wednesday after the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A bill to amend the the Citizenship Act, 1955,will now be introduced in the Parliament in the current session.

Bharat Bond Exchange ETF: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved launch of a exchange traded fund for bonds. The fund will provide additional money for state-owned firms and other government organisations, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. Pakistan: The Pakistan law ministry on Wednesday notified the appointment of Justice Gulzar Ahmed as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan. Justice Gulzar will take charge as the country’s chief justice on December 21, a day after the retirement of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa. The appointment was approved by President Arif Alvi.
