J & K leader booked: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah were booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) on Thursday along with two other leaders of their People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference (NC) , officials aware of the matter said.The PSA allows for detention without trial for up to two years if a person is deemed acting “in any manner prejudicial to the security of the state”.

West Bengal : The budget session of West Bengal assembly on Friday will begin under the shadow of an unprecedented conflict over the governor’s opening speech, which the state government refused to change on Thursday evening, despite governor Jagdeep Dhankhar’s request. This development took place a few hours after Dhankhar had reiterated that he was within his rights to suggest changes in the budget speech that is prepared by the state cabinet.
RBI Repo Rate: The Reserve Bank on Thursday expectedly left interest rates unchanged amid uncertain inflation outlook but left the door open for more easing in future even as it took steps to spur credit growth in an economy facing its worst slowdown in more than a decade. With all six members of the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das-led Monetary Policy Committee voting unanimously, the repurchase or repo rate was maintained at 5.15 per cent while retaining its accommodative stance.
Telcom Merger: Telecom operator Tata Teleservices on Thursday said the Department of Telecom (DoT) has approved the merger of its consumer mobile business with Bharti Airtel. Tata Teleservices listed arm said in a regulatory filing said the DoT through its letter dated February 6, 2020 has conveyed approval of the competent authority in DoT for taking on record demerger of consumer mobile business undertaking of the company into Bharti Airtel Limited (BAL).
Instant PAN Online: The government this month will roll out a facility to issue online PAN cards instantly on furnishing of Aadhaar details, Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey has said. The Budget 2020-21 has proposed to launch a system under which Permanent Account Number shall be instantly allotted online on the basis of Aadhaar without filling up the detailed application form as it sought to further ease the process of allotment of PAN.
