The Sultan of Oman Issues Four Royal Decrees

Employees designated as “Judicial Inspectors”: Employees of the specialised “Authority” and the ministries of “Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion”, “Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources”, “Health” and other departments concerned, in accordance with the laws and Royal Decrees awarding such officials the designation/mission of ‘judicial inspection’ as regards crimes stated in the attached law/system that are related to their job tasks.

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik has issued four Royal decrees reading as follows:

Royal Decree No. 53/2021 amends some provisions of the Motor Insurance Law, after presenting the same before the Council of Oman.

Article (1) introduces the amendments attached (to this decree) to the aforesaid Motor Insurance Law promulgated under Royal Decree No. 34/94.

Article (2) cancels all that contradicts the attached amendments or contravenes their provisions.

Article (3) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from the day following its date of publishing.

Royal Decree (No. 54/2021) implements the GCC Unified Law (System) on Combating Commercial Deception, after presenting the same before the Council of Oman.

Article (1) states that the provisions of the GCC Unified Law on Combating Commercial Deception shall be implemented, while at the same time consulting the provisions of this decree.

Article (2) stipulates that, when implementing the provisions of this attached law (system), the phrases listed below shall have the meanings indicated against each:

The specialised “Authority” concerned: Consumer Protection Authority;

The “Minister” concerned: The official tasked with implementing the provisions of the attached law/system (Chairman of the consumer Protection Authority).

Employees designated as “Judicial Inspectors”: Employees of the specialised “Authority” and the ministries of “Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion”, “Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources”, “Health” and other departments concerned, in accordance with the laws and Royal Decrees awarding such officials the designation/mission of ‘judicial inspection’ as regards crimes stated in the attached law/system that are related to their job tasks.

Article (3) states that the provisions of the attached law/system are deemed complementary to the provisions of the Food Security Law (promulgated under Royal Decree No. 84/2008).

Article (4) cancels all that contradicts this decree or the attached law/system or contravenes their provisions.

Article (5) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from the day following its date of publishing.

Royal Decree No. 55/2021 ratifies the agreement on establishing the GCC Accreditation Centre and its Annex-1.

Article (1) ratifies the aforesaid agreement and its Annex-1 as per the version attached to this decree.

Article (2) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.

Royal Decree No. 56/2021 ratifies the agreement between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC Secretariat General pertaining to the headquarters of the GCC Statistical Center, signed in Muscat on 8 June 2021.

Article (1) ratifies the aforesaid agreement as per the version attached to this decree.

Article (2) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.
