    Where on earth do you find a judiciary that acts at lightning speed? Can we ever question the independence of our judiciary? Our Supreme Court is the finest court manned by gifted people. In our democracy, there will always be issues. There will be issues between legislature, executive and judiciary. Because we are in a dynamic society. Issues will keep on coming. These issues are required to be determined. Those who are at the apex of these institutions, I am at one as Chairman Rajya Sabha, we can’t be complainants. We have to be collaborators.

    Government is engaging with G-20 countries to build international coordination on policy approach to crypto assets, says MoS Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary

    The Government is engaging with G-20 countries to build international coordination on policy approach to crypto assets. This was stated by the Union Minister of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.

    The Minister further stated that the Indian Presidency provides an opportunity to place different priorities, including priority on crypto assets, on the agenda for international collaboration. Crypto Assets are by definition borderless and require international collaboration to prevent regulatory arbitrage. Therefore, any legislation for regulation or for banning can be effective only with significant international collaboration on evaluation of the risks and benefits and evolution of common taxonomy and standards, the Minister stated.

    Identification of 75 Water Heritage Sites in India

    There is no provision under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 to declare a site as a “Water Heritage Site” under Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). However, the Ministry of Jal Shakti had constituted a Committee to identify 75 Water Heritage Structure (WHS) in reference to 75 years of India’s Independence.

    A total of 421 nominations were received through States/UTs, Central Agencies, NGOs and general public and out of which Committee has recommended 75 water heritage structures, which includes 5 Water Heritage Structure from Gujarat and 4 Water Heritage Structure from Andhra Pradesh respectively. In this connection, “Jal-Itihas” sub-portal under India-WRIS portal, showcasing the 75 WHS, was launched (https://indiawris.gov.in/wris/) on 5th January, 2023 at the 1st All India State Ministers Conference on Water at Bhopal. State/UT wise details of these WHS are at Annexure. At present there is no central fund allocated/disbursed for maintenance of these sites.
