I would like to note that indeed, Western sanctions on the banking sector and on a number of goods, and so forth, do have an impact on the economic development of the peninsula. A new package of sanctions followed the start of the military operation in Ukraine.
20 years of US presence in Afghanistan cost thousands of lives of ordinary Afghans and American soldiers, and billions dollars spent. But then they double-heartedly abandoned the Afghan people, and left them one-on-one with devastation, poverty, terrorism, and hunger.
The goals of our special operation that was started under Article 51 of the UN Charter, are being pursued and will be achieved. We do not target civil facilities and civilians. Please do not trust the huge amount of fakes on that matter that are spread on the Internet. Those fakes were “cooked like hot cakes” in the information center called “Special Operations Forces”. This center was destroyed yesterday. Peaceful scenario for Ukraine can be expedited if radicals start caring for the lives of their fellow citizens and stop hiding behind them. The draft under our consideration today contains no such call.
Our experience of working with our Western colleagues on European security issues contains abundant examples when promises were made but not kept. I have already quoted the words said by the then US President Gerald Ford immediately after the signing of the Helsinki Final Act in 1975. Celebrating the occasion, he said: “History will judge this Conference not by what we say here today, but by what we do tomorrow - not by the promises we make, but by the promises we keep.” Our American and West European colleagues and NATO members are not very good at this.
The country’s growth points, including urban metro areas and individual reference communities are to be identified as part of the Spatial Development Strategy. Our efforts in different development areas must be linked and synchronised. We included this bloc of issues in the Cities of Great Opportunities and Revival of Small Residential Communities initiative.
