It would also seem that our prayers have no answer. Is God listening? And why is all this happening? Is it our own deficiencies that prevent us from finding an answer?

With regard to religions more globally, much of my direct experience of faiths beyond the Judeo-Christian tradition has been in the Far East: in India, Nepal, Thailand, China, and Japan.
