The West Bengal government has issued a notification regarding amendments to the West Bengal Land and Land Reforms Manual, 1991, aimed at enhancing pisciculture through modern practices. Following a lack of objections to the proposed draft published earlier, the amendments include new rules for settling government water areas via tender or auction, allowing participation from various stakeholders such as cooperatives and entrepreneurs. The committee composition for fisheries settlement will be flexible, prioritizing cooperatives in bidding processes. Additionally, the District Magistrate will have the authority to confirm settlements up to Rs. 100,000, with conditions subject to future revisions by the state government.
