Provisional Government of Azad Hind-1943

On 21 October 1943, Subhas Chandra Bose proclaimed the establishment of the Provisional Government of Azad Hind (Free India) in Singapore, assuming the roles of Head of State, Prime Minister, and Minister of War. The Cabinet included notable figures such as Lt Col A C Chatterjee as Minister of Finance, Dr (Capt) Lakshmi Sahgal as Minister of Women’s Organisation, and various representatives from the Indian National Army (INA). Advisors from different regions, including Burma, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Singapore, were also appointed, reflecting a diverse leadership aimed at furthering the cause of Indian independence during World War II.
