Rani Bhabani’s Son: King Ramkrishna of Nator and His Divine Journey
Maharaja Ramkrishna of Nator (1748–1799), son of Rani Bhabani, succeeded her as the Jamindar King of Nator Estate. An intellectual deeply immersed in Vedic texts and Tantra, he garnered acclaim within the Brahmanical Society, earning the title “Mahasadhak.” In 1796, he renounced his royal title, choosing to live as an Abadhut and serve the poor while advocating the concept of the Divine Mother, Kali. His discussions on Kali’s nature attracted followers and influenced educated circles, including colonial officers. Maharaja Ramkrishna ultimately merged with the Divine Mother on March 14, 1799, with his passing commemorated by a Jal Samadhi ceremony in the Barani River.
