The National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF-FS), 2022 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), 2023 emphasize cultural aspects through curricular goals and competencies. These frameworks have led to the integration of different aspects of culture in new textbooks for Grades 1, 2, 3, and 6, as well as in learning-teaching materials such as Jaadui Pitara developed by the National Council of Educational Research & Training (NCERT).
In addition, capacity building programs are being conducted for teachers and teacher educators to integrate cultural education and local cultural contexts based on the NCFs. The Ministry of Education has also been organizing the Kala Utsav since 2015, providing a national platform for students to showcase their talent in different art forms and cultural practices, with participants from all parts of the country, including remote areas.
Furthermore, under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and Bhasha Sangam, various cultural events are organized to promote awareness and sensitivity about different cultures. This comprehensive approach to cultural integration aligns with the inclusive and integrated cultural aspects in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, NCF-FS, and NCF-SE.
This information was provided by the Minister of State for Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
