63 Appointments made through Lateral entry

In a recent statement, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, and MoS PMO, among other responsibilities, Dr. Jitendra Singh, highlighted the implementation of lateral recruitment in the Government of India since 2018.
This initiative aims to appoint individuals with specialized knowledge and expertise in specific domains at the levels of Joint Secretary, Director, and Deputy Secretary. As of now, 63 lateral appointments have been made, with 35 of them coming from the private sector. Currently, 57 officers have assumed their positions in various Ministries and Departments.
