MAHARASHTRA: President’s rule has been imposed in Maharashtra on Tuesday after governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in a report to the Centre stated that formation of a stable government was impossible in the current situation despite efforts. The Cabinet recommended that the President issue a Proclamation under Article 356(1) of the Constitution imposing President’s rule in Maharashtra and keep the state legislative assembly under suspended animation.

- Uddhav Thackeray said, “We asked for 48 hours, the President has given us six months.Yesterday we formally requested Congress-NCP for their support to form the government. We needed 48 hours, but the Governor didn’t give us time.”
- The Congress and NCP said on Tuesday evening that they had not taken any decision about supporting the Shiv Sena to form government in Maharashtra yet, but will hold further discussions.
INDUSTRIAL OUTPUT : A severe contraction in factory output has prompted observers of the Indian economy to downsize their estimate of the pace with which it could have grown in the July-September quarter (Q2 FY20).So much, that most of them have put the headline number at 4.2-4.7 per cent.
VODAPFONE: Vodafone said its future in India could be in doubt unless the government stopped hitting operators with higher taxes and charges, after a court judgment over license fees resulted in a 1.9 billion euro group loss in its first half. Chief Executive Nick Read said India, where Vodafone formed a joint venture with Idea Cellular in 2018, had been “a very challenging situation for a long time”, but it remained a sizable market where Vodafone had a 30% share.

PAKISTAN: Pakistan Cabinet on Tuesday decided to allow former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for medical treatment if he agrees to sign surety bonds making a commitment that he would return after the treatment and face cases against him.
