The King to the Jordanians: Our country is great for every one of you, so do not allow anyone to underestimate the value of its achievements.

The King: Our homeland will remain steadfast, protected by the Nashami members of the Jordanian Armed Forces and security services.

Amman – (Petra) – His Majesty King Abdullah II, yesterday, Wednesday, opened the work of the third regular session of the nineteenth National Assembly.
His Majesty the King delivered the sublime Throne Speech, the text of which follows:

DATE: 2023-10-12

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
and may blessings and peace be upon our Master Muhammad, the faithful Arab Hashemite Prophet.

Honorable Senators,
Honorable Representatives,

May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you. Then, in the name of God, and with Godโ€™s blessing, we open the work of the regular session of the nineteenth National Assembly. This is the last session of your honorable council, which laid the foundation stone for a new phase in the future of our country. With it, we are preparing for a new chapter of our political life, after the amendments you made to the legislation regulating party and parliamentary work.

For nearly a quarter of a century, we have been in the covenant, striving with our people to protect our democratic process. Here we are moving forward with a new and steady pace of construction, strengthening and modernization, and we will continue to work to preserve this path that has been extending since the establishment of the state.

Honorable Senators,
Honorable Representatives,

next year, with Godโ€™s help, will witness the holding of parliamentary elections, and we seek for programmatic parties to be an integral and major part of our parliamentary system.
The success of this stage depends on the active participation of our people, and the shouldering of each party, institutions and individuals, of its responsibilities in a high patriotic spirit, to deepen our democratic path.

We have come an important step towards implementing the paths of political, economic and administrative modernization. I greatly hope that the executive authority and the legislative authority will continue to cooperate to move the process forward and not hinder it, because our people deserve a better future.

As I see that the next stage requires the infusion of new blood to implement modernization, I call on all state institutions and leaders to support youth and women and take their hand to enhance their role on the political scene in deed, not in word. The future is theirs, and we must clear the way for them, and my pledge to them is that we will not allow their dreams of modernization and development to be assassinated. .

Honorable Senators,

Honorable Representatives,

the dangerous escalation and acts of violence and aggression that the Palestinian territories are currently witnessing are evidence that confirms once again that our region will not enjoy security and stability without achieving a just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution, so that the Palestinian people obtain their independent, sovereign state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the cycles of killing for which innocent civilians pay the price will end.
There is no security, peace, or stability without a just and comprehensive peace, for which the two-state solution is the only path.

Our compass will remain Palestine, and its crown will be Holy Jerusalem, and we will not deviate from defending its interests and its just cause, until the brotherly Palestinian people regain their full rights, so that our region and all our peoples may enjoy peace, which is a right and a necessity for all of us.
Jordan’s position will remain steadfast, and we will not abandon our role, no matter how great the challenges are, in order to defend the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and preserve them from the standpoint of Hashemite custodianship.

Jordan will remain in the trenches of Arabism, doing everything in its power to stand with its Arab brothers.

Honorable Senators,
Honorable Representatives,

this country has importance and status among countries, and this generous people do not know failure, because its history is stations of challenge and achievement. We have written success stories with the least capabilities, and with the determination and efforts of the Jordanians.
Through you, I address my family and my dear sons and daughters of Jordan, and I say to them: This country of ours is great with every one of you. Do not allow anyone to diminish the value of its achievements that you have made, and do not open the door to the hater or the ignorant. Let us all be of Jordanโ€™s size and stature, and the level of its people and their ambitions.

Honorable Senators,

Honorable Representatives,

our homeland will remain steadfast, protected by the starving members of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army and the security services, who made sacrifices, generation after generation, and protected the homeland with joy and souls, in order to raise its banner, and preserve its strength and strength, so that it remains dear and feared, so to them. We have all our appreciation and greetings, and we will not hesitate to provide all support to develop their capabilities and maximize their strength.

We have a future ahead of us to build a Jordan of goodness and fulfillment. Jordan has always been a springboard for something greater, so let us move towards it with confidence, with the determination of our people, the strength of our institutions, our army and our security services, and the ambition of our youth that knows no bounds.

May God grant us success in all good things.
Peace, mercy and blessings of God.

Upon the arrival of His Majesty the King to the courtyard of the National Assembly, accompanied by His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, artillery fired a twenty-one-gun salute to His Majesty, and the music of the armed forces played the royal anthem, then His Majesty the King reviewed the guard of honor that was lined up to salute him.

Upon his arrival, His Majesty was received by heads of authorities and senior civil and military officials.
The opening was attended by a number of Their Highnesses princes and princesses, nobles, senior civil and military officials, and members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps.
