Ladakh : Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the supply of a special diesel for the Union Territory of Ladakh. The winter-grade diesel has been developed by Indian Oil Corporation, and stays unfrozen up to minus 33 degrees Celsius. Shah said that at the time of abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcation into two Union Territories, the Centre had promised multiple development initiatives for the region.
Srilanka: Sri Lanka’s wartime defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa will be the next President. Rajapaksa, 70, defeated Premadasa, 52, by more than 13 lakh votes, according to the official results.
