President`s Rule: To revoke President’s Rule, the government has used Rule 12 of the Government of India (Transaction of Business) Rules, 1961, which allows for revocation of President’s Rule without Cabinet approval if the Prime Minister “deems it necessary.”
The Calcutta High Court: As there is large number of pending litigations touching almost 229,000, the Calcutta High Court is stressing on alternative dispute redressal mechanism like mediation to reduce the backlog. The high court is encouraging litigants involved in various disputes, from commercial to matrimonial issues, to go for mediation to resolve their differences, instead of fighting their cases in the courts that may take a long time before any outcome is reached.

SC: The Supreme Court today asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to place before it on 25th November morning the letters of Maharashtra Governor recommending revocation of President’s rule in the state and inviting Devendra Fadnavis to form government. In the special hearing on a holiday, the apex court also issued notices to the Centre, Maharashtra government on the petition filed by Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine against the Maharashtra Governor’s decision to swear in Fadnavis as chief minister.
Ajit Pawar: The BJP today objected to the removal of Ajit Pawar as leader of the NCP legislature party, saying it was “invalid”. Pawar was removed as the NCP’s legislature unit leader on Saturday, hours after he joined hands with the BJP in a coup and took oath as deputy of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

FPI: Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs)has infused a net Rs 17,722 crore into the Indian markets in November so far amid encouraging domestic and global cues. According to depositories data, overseas investors pumped in a net sum of Rs 17,547.55 crore into equities and Rs 175.27 crore in the debt segment during November 1-22, taking the cumulative net investment to Rs 17,722.82 crore.
Unemployment: India’s urban unemployment rate between January and March this year fell to 9.3 per cent, the lowest in at least four quarters, according to an unpublished government report reviewed by Reuters. The urban unemployment rate of the January-March quarter compared with 9.9 per cent in the preceding quarter.

Airbnb International: Airbnb’s business excluding the United States and China turned a net profit of $46.47 million in 2018 compared with a loss of $97.22 million the previous year, according to an earnings statement the company filed in Dublin, Ireland, and made public on November 22.Airbnb International Unlimited Company is incorporated in Ireland and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbnb Inc.
Pakistan: A panel of academics and South Asia experts from around the world explored the prospect of a “rebrand” of Pakistan away from an ideology of jihad and terrorism, with the Pakistani diaspora playing some role in such a move. ‘Reimagining Pakistan: A Global Perspective’, organised by the Jammu Kashmir Study Centre UK think tank and the Indian National Students Association (INSA) UK in London on November 23, highlighted that Pakistan’s so-called “jihad strategy” dates back to 1947 when it tried to “forcibly annex Kashmir”.
Tesla: Elon Musk says Tesla has received nearly 150,000 orders for its new electric pickup truck since the automaker revealed the futuristic vehicle earlier this week to mixed reviews. Pakistan: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday reiterated that America’s stance on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would have “no impact” on the project. He was referring to a recent statement by Wells, who is in charge of South Asia affairs at the US State Department, in which she had “warned” that CPEC would further add to Pakistan’s debt burden. She had said the multi-billion-dollar CPEC would take a toll on Pakistan’s economy at the time of repayments and dividend in the coming years.
