The Police structure in UP has been distributed in eight organisations :

  1. Provincial Police
  2. Government Railway Police
  3. Municipal Police
  4. Cantonment Police
  5. Town Police
  6. Rural and Road Police
  7. Canal Police
  8. Barkandaj Guard (to protect the courts)

Director-General of Police, Uttar Pradesh [Police Headquarters, 9th Floor, Tower 2, Gomtinagar Ext., Shahid path Lucknow]

The Director General of UP Police commands a force of  2.5 Lacs aprox. personnel spread over 75 districts, 33 armed Battalions, and other specialised wings/ branches relating to Intelligence, Investigation, Anti-corruption, Technical, Training, Forensic Science etc.
