Maldives Tourism Establishment Registration Guide | Money changer license (03/10/2024)

The Maldives Monetary Authority has announced the registration process for tourism service providers and the application for money-changing licenses, effective October 1, 2024. All tourism businesses registered with the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority must register with the Authority by October 31, 2024. New money-changing licenses, limited to 50, are available for application until November 30, 2024. If applications exceed this limit, selection will occur via lottery. Licensed businesses in Dhvehirahje may continue operations until their application results are determined. Relevant contact email addresses have been provided for further inquiries regarding registration and licensing.

Registration of tourism goods and service providers with this authority and issuance of money changing licenses

Registration of tourism goods and service providers

All persons registered with the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) as sellers of goods and service providers in the tourism sector under Article 5 of the Foreign Exchange Regulations, which came into force on 1 October 2024.

These individuals are requested to register with the Authority by 31 October 2024 through the “Maldives Monetary Authority FX Portal Registration Form” Those registering with IRDA after 1 October 2024 are requested to register with this authority within 30 days from the date of registration with IRDA.

The “Moneychanging Business Regulation” also came into force on 1 October 2024 as part of the Authority’s efforts to strengthen the foreign exchange legal framework and maintain stability in the sector. Applications for licenses to be issued under these rules are now open.

A total of no more than 50 new licenses will be issued under these rules. If more than this number of applicants apply for the license, the license will be awarded by lottery among the eligible applicants.

Money changing businesses in Dhvehirahje with a license issued by the Authority shall apply for the license within two months (before 30 November 2024) from the date of commencement of these Regulations. The business of buying and selling foreign currency under the previously issued license shall be conducted until the Authority decides on the application of these persons.

The deadline for submitting applications for new licenses is November 30,

ޓޫރިޒަމް ދާއިރާގެ މުދާ ވިއްކާ ފަރާތްތަކާއި ޚިދުމަތް ފޯރުކޮށްދޭ ފަރާތްތަކުން މި އޮތޯރިޓީގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީ ކުރުމާއި މަނީ ޗޭންޖިންގ ލައިސަންސް ދިނުން

ޓޫރިޒަމް ދާއިރާގެ މުދާ ވިއްކާ ފަރާތްތަކާއި ޚިދުމަތް ފޯރުކޮށްދޭ ފަރާތްތައް ރަޖިސްޓްރީކުރުން

1 އޮކްޓޫބަރު 2024 ވަނަ ދުވަހު އަމަލުކުރަން ފެށި ބޭރު ފައިސާއާ ބެހޭ ގަވާއިދުގެ 5 ވަނަ މާއްދާގެ ދަށުން ޓޫރިޒަމް ދާއިރާގެ މުދާ ވިއްކާ ފަރާތްތަކާއި ޚިދުމަތް ފޯރު ކޮށްދޭ ފަރާތްތަކުގެ ގޮތުގައި މޯލްޑިވްސް އިންލެންޑް ރެވެނިއު އޮތޯރިޓީ (މީރާ) ގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީކޮށްފައިވާ ހުރިހާ ފަރާތްތަކުން މި އޮތޯރިޓީގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީވުމަށް މިހާރު ވަނީ ހުޅުވާލައިފައެވެ.

މި ފަރާތްތަކުން 31 އޮކްޓޫބަރު 2024ގެ ކުރިން “މޯލްޑިވްސް މަނިޓަރީ އޮތޯރިޓީ އެފްއެކްސް ޕޯޓަލް ރެޖިސްޓްރޭޝަން ފޯމް” މެދުވެރިކޮށް މި އޮތޯރިޓީގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީކުރަން ދަންނަވަމެވެ. 1 އޮކްޓޫބަރު 2024ގެ ފަހުން މީރާގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީކުރާ ފަރާތްތަކުން މީރާގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީވާ ދުވަހުން ފެށިގެން 30 ދުވަހުގެ ތެރޭގައި މި އޮތޯރިޓީގައި ރެޖިސްޓްރީވުމަށް ވެސް ދަންނަވަމެވެ.

މިކަމާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން އިތުރު މައުލޫމާތު ސާފުކުރެއްވުމަށް ގުޅުއްވާނީ 3012121 އަށެވެ. އަދި އީމެއިލް އިންނަމަ foreignexchange@mma.gov.mv އަށެވެ.

މަނީ ޗޭންޖިންގ ލައިސަންސް ދިނުން

ބޭރު ފައިސާގެ ގާނޫނީ އޮނިގަނޑު ހަރުދަނާކުރުމާއި މި ދާއިރާގެ ހަމަޖެހުން ދެމެހެއްޓުމަށް މިއޮތޯރިޓީން ކުރަމުންދާ މަސައްކަތުގެ ތެރެއިން “މަނީޗޭންޖިންގ ވިޔަފާރިއާބެހޭ ގަވާއިދު”އަށް ވެސް ވަނީ 1 އޮކްޓޫބަރު 2024ގައި އަމަލުކުރަން ފަށާފައެވެ. މި ގަވާއިދުގެ ދަށުން ދޫކުރުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ ލައިސަންސްތަކަށް ހުށަހެޅުމަށް މިހާރު ވަނީ ހުޅުވާލައިފައެވެ.

މި ގަވާއިދުގެ ދަށުން އަލަށް ލައިސަންސް ދޫކުރެވޭނީ ޖުމުލަ 50 ފަރާތަށްވުރެ އިތުރުނުވާ ގޮތަށެވެ. މި އަދަދަށް ވުރެ ގިނަ ފަރާތްތަކުން ލައިސަންސަށް އެދި ހުށަހަޅައިފިނަމަ ލައިސަންސް ދޭނީ ޝަރުތުހަމަވާ ފަރާތްތަކުގެ މެދުގައި ނެގޭ ގުރުއަތަކުންނެވެ.

އޮތޯރިޓީން ދޫކުރާ ލައިސަންސެއް ލިބިގެން ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި މަނީ ޗޭންޖިންގ ވިޔަފާރިކުރާ ފަރާތްތަކުން، މި ގަވާއިދަށް އަމަލުކުރަން ފެށި ދުވަހުން ފެށިގެން 2 މަސްދުވަހުގެ ތެރޭގައި (30 ނޮވެންބަރު 2024ގެ ކުރިން) ލައިސަންސަށް އެދި ހުށަހަޅަންވާނެއެވެ. އަދި މި ފަރާތްތަކުގެ އެޕްލިކޭޝަނާމެދު ވަކިގޮތެއް މި އޮތޯރިޓީން ނިންމައި އަންގަންދެން ކުރިން ދޫކޮށްފައިވާ ލައިސަންސްގެ ދަށުން ބޭރު ފައިސާ ގަނެ ވިއްކުމުގެ ވިޔަފާރި ކުރިއަށް ގެންދެވޭނެއެވެ.

މި ގަވާއިދުގެ ދަށުން އަލަށް ލައިސަންސަށް އެދި ހުށަހަޅަންޖެހޭ ފަހުގެ ތާރީޚަކީ ވެސް 30 ނޮވެންބަރު 2024 އެވެ.

މިކަމާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން އިތުރު މައުލޫމާތު ސާފުކުރެއްވުމަށް ގުޅުއްވާނީ 3012122 އަށެވެ. އަދި އީމެއިލް އިންނަމަ licensing@mma.gov.mv އަށެވެ.
