The Gospel technology developed an IDF unit as a machine that, with the help of AI, processes large amounts of data better and faster than any human, transforming them into attack targets.

During an event on February 2023, which was part of Tel Aviv University’s AI week, a senior IDF official revealed how the latest technology is helping the Israeli security forces in their fight against terror Commander of AI center at IDF Intelligence Corps’ elite Unit 8200, known as Colonel Yoav, said AI capabilities were used during the 2021 war in Gaza, dubbed Operation Guardian of the Walls, to detect Hamas’ so-called rocket units.
“AI and data capabilities we utilize, significantly enhance our ability to foil terrorist attacks,” the colonel said. “One of the most substantial tools we built allows us to locate dangerous individuals from a pool of people fed to the system, a process that used to take hundreds of hours now takes mere seconds.
“During Guardian of the Walls, the system was able to identify leaders of Hamas rocket units from a large pool of known militants and eliminate them.”
He added that during the operation, Israeli intelligence was able to identify 200 targets for elimination using the technology built by Unit 8200. The AI center, which the colonel commands, also provides cyber education for high-school students to offer them the tools required to take part in IDF cyber operations as soon as they are drafted.
In January 2023, the Chief of the General Staff Aviv Kohavi told The Jerusalem Post in an outgoing interview as IDF chief, “The laser defense system is truly great news. It will be both land-and air-based. I do want to be cautious regarding timeframes. In another two years, we expect to deploy systems along the Gaza Strip border to test this tool’s effectiveness.”
“It has worked very well in field tests. If this experiment works, and we continue to integrate and enhance
the laser defense system over two years, we will move as fast as possible to deploy it across the entire North. I cannot commit to a specific number of years. I don’t want to be optimistic and I also don’t want to be pessimistic,” he said.
Kohavi added, “I know that there has been great progress over the last three years and we invested a lot
of money in this. We defined the laser defense system as having multiple benefits that we would need to
invest a lot in. I am happy that it has progressed so much.”
The Gospel AI System is a system (IDF) that allows the use of automatic tools to produce targets at a fast pace, and works by improving accurate and high-quality intelligence material according to the requirement. With the help of artificial intelligence, and through the rapid and automatic extraction of updated intelligence – it produces a recommendation for the researcher, with the goal being that there will be a complete match between the machine’s recommendation and the identification performed by a person.
“The operational need is defined in all combat arenas by the relevant command, and it is translated into a large-scale criminalization effort under the same sensitive complex at the base in the south of the country,” explained the senior official, “in war, the enemy behaves differently and creates new opportunities”
“The standard of the targets produced at the Targets Center is the highest. We do not compromise on the quality of the product and the intelligence, and produce targets for precise attacks on infrastructures associated with Hamas while inflicting great damage on the enemy and minimal harm to those not involved,” the senior emphasized, “We work without compromise in defining who and what the enemy is. The operatives of the terrorist organization Hamas are not immune – no matter where they hide.”
The current stage of fighting involves intense fighting on the ground. Our forces are operating in the heart of Hamas’ strongholds, simultaneously operating in both the south and the north of the Gaza Strip – in Jabalya, Shuja’iyya, and in the Khan Yunis area. The forces are operating professionally and courageously in complex areas that are laden with many explosives. We are conducting fierce battles with Hamas terrorists that are hiding underground but are emerging from the tunnels due to our forces’ operations, leading to battles and to the killing of terrorists.
We are eliminating many terrorists, and increasingly are seeing terrorists who surrender during battle and turn themselves over to our forces. In the last 48 hours, we apprehended more than two hundred suspects, dozens of whom were transferred to the 504 Unit of the Intelligence Corps and to the ISA for investigation in Israel. Amongst the suspects transferred for investigation are Hamas commanders and Nukhba terrorists. Their investigation assists the continued operations of the forces in the field.
In the north, early this morning, we eliminated a terrorist cell in the Har Dov area. An observation soldier identified an armed terrorist cell and directed a UAV which successfully struck the cell. Throughout the day, we struck Hezbollah targets in Lebanese territory and responded with fire to locations from which shots were fired into our territory.
