The International Monetary Fund (IMF), Members and Government

The IMF has been governed by the governors, who are usually their countries’ finance ministers or central bank directors. The executive board, consisting of 24 executive directors meet weekly for day-to-day business. The IMF has around 2700 employees from its member countries.

A pool of funds [US$692 billion] has been created by taking subscription from its members[ 189 countries] and as per the amount subscription, a particular member gets % of votes. The USA contributes around 17 %, therefore it has 17% votes.

 The IMF has an  Administrative Tribunal (“IMFAT” or “Tribunal” activated on October 15, 1992) which serves as an independent judicial forum for the resolution of employment disputes arising between the International Monetary Fund (“IMF” or “Fund”) and its staff members.
