ISLAMIC FATWA: Mufti Asad Qasmi, a cleric associated with Darul Uloom Deoband has slammed and issued fatwa against TMC Lok Sabha member Nusrat Jahan for her participating in Hindu rituals and said the actor should change her name and religion because she is defaming Islam and Muslims by her actions. Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board chairman , Waseem Rizvi, said Jahan was free to wear emblems of Hindu marriage like sindur, bindi or mangalsutra.

SPG: The Cabinet Secretariat has, in an executive order, amended the SPG Act, making it mandatory for Special Protection Group personnel to accompany their protectees on foreign trips as well. The latest executive order, clearly states that as per the new guidelines issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, it will now be mandatory for the SPG protectees to submit every detail of their foreign trips.

Kabul: At least 10 people were killed and 27 wounded Monday when a bomb hit a bus carrying army recruits in Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan. “The bomb was placed in a motorcycle. Unfortunately, 10 civilians including a child were killed and 27 were wounded in this incident,” said governor spokesman Ataullah Khogyani.

Singapore: An Indian-origin Singaporean judge has been sworn in by Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah as a judicial commissioner of the Supreme Court of the sultanate. Kannan Ramesh’s appointment is for a two-year period and the 54-year-old Justice will continue to hold his position as a full-time judge of the Supreme Court of Singapore.

NOBEL PRIZE MEDICINE : Two scientists from the United States and one from Britain won the 2019 Nobel Medicine Prize on Monday for finding how cells adapt to fluctuating oxygen levels, paving the way for new strategies to fight diseases such as anaemia and cancer. The Nobel award-giving body said US-born researchers William Kaelin and Gregg Semenza shared the prize equally with Peter Ratcliffe, who was born in Britain.”The seminal discoveries by this year’s Nobel laureates revealed the mechanism for one of life’s most essential adaptive processes,” the Nobel Assembly at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute said in a statement on awarding the prize of 9 million Swedish crowns ($913,000).
