The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has condoled the passing away of Sri Vishvesha Teertha Swamiji of the Sri Pejawara Matha, Udupi.

Indian Economy: India is expected to overtake Germany to become fourth-largest economy in 2026 and Japan to become third largest in 2034, according a recent report by the UK-based Centre for Economics and Business Research(CEBR). It further said India is also set to reach a gross domestic product (GDP) of USD 5 trillion by 2026, 2 years later than the government’s target. It says that India has decisively overtaken both France and the UK to become the world’s fifth-largest economy in 2019. It is expected to overtake Germany to become fourth-largest in 2026 and Japan to become the third-largest in 2034. India is also set to reach a GDP of $5 trillion by 2026 – 2 years later than the current government target.

USA Economy: The USA in 2019 reached 24.8% of world GDP, its largest share of the world economy since 2007. And the US is now expected to remain the world’s largest economy throughout the 2020s and is to be overtaken by China only in 2033, three years later than we forecast two years ago.

Modi: Addressing his last ‘Mann ki Baat’ of 2019, the prime minister said the youth hate anarchy and disorder and dislike casteism, nepotism and favouritism, remarks that come in the backdrop of recent violent protests in various university campuses over the Citizenship Amendment Act and proposed National Register of Citizens.

Hemant Soren: In its first cabinet decision, the Hemant Soren government Sunday dropped all cases registered against people during the Pathalgadi movement in 2017-2018, as well as against people booked in the protests after the Raghubar Das government attempted to tweak Chotanagpur and Santhal Paragna tenancy Acts. The cabinet also directed that necessary posts be created for judicial officers in fast-track courts dealing with cases pertaining to women and children in every district, besides paying all dues to Anganwadi workers and para-teachers. JMM leader Stephen Marandi has been elected Speaker of the upcoming Assembly.

Indian Navy:  The Indian Navy plans to build 24 submarines, including six nuclear attack submarines, a parliamentary panel was told. The Navy also told the panel that Medium Refit Life Certification (MRLC) of submarine Sindhuraj has been held up since the Russian side has not been able to submit bank guarantees and integrity pact due to sanctions imposed by the US.

Chief of Defence Staff: The defence ministry has amended rules to allow the Chief of Defence Staff to serve up to a maximum age limit of 65 years. In a landmark decision, the Cabinet Committee on Security on Tuesday approved the creation of the CDS who will act as the principal military adviser to the defence minister on all matters relating to tri-services.

According to existing rules, the service chiefs can serve for a maximum period of three years or till attaining the age of 62, whichever is earlier.

Priyanka Vadra: Hours after Congress leader Priyanka Vadra alleged that she was manhandled by police personnel on her way to the residence of a former Indian Police Services officer held for anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests, an Uttar Pradesh police officer said the allegations were false. Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) regarding the alleged manhandling of Gandhi by UP police. Today the Gandhi scion maintained that the police were doing their duty.

UP traffic police: The UP traffic police have slapped a fine of Rs 6,300 on the owner of the two-wheeler on which Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra travelled to reach retired IPS officer SR Darapuri’s residence in Lucknow as she and the driver rode the vehicle without a helmet. According to the e-challan, the owner of the two-wheeler is Rajdeep Singh, who has to pay the fine, police said.

Locust attack: Villages of Gujarat under the attack of locust. Gujrat Govt on a war footing has deployed 100 tractor-mounted pesticide sprayer teams along with 16 from the Central government to tackle the recent locust menace, according to Punamchand Parmar, additional chief secretary for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department, Government of Gujarat.

BSP: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Sunday suspended party MLA Rama Bai for supporting the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Rama Bai, who represents Patheriya Assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district, on Saturday evening supported the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at a function held in her constituency where Union minister Prahlad Patel was present.

Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday said the “powerful” Indian lobby in America was playing a key role in strengthening India’s narrative against Pakistan, which was affecting the US policies for his country. Speaking at a meeting of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA), Khan said, “India’s lobby in America right now is far more powerful than Pakistan’s. India’s point of view always overshadows that of Pakistan and American policies for Pakistan are affected by that viewpoint.”
