Benjamin Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu (A Jew) was born on 21 October 1949 in Tel Aviv and lived in the United States from 1956 to 1958 and again from 1963 to 1967 due to his father’s academic work. He served in the Israel Defense Forces from 1967 to 1972, including participation in the 1968 Beirut raid and the 1972 Sabena Flight 571 rescue operation. After his service, he studied at MIT, completing a B.S. in architecture in 1975 and an M.S. in management in 1977, while also attending courses at Harvard. From 1982 to 1984, he served as deputy chief of mission at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, and from 1984 to 1988 he was Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations. He entered the Knesset in 1988 and became deputy foreign minister the same year. In 1993, he was elected leader of Likud, leading to his election as prime minister in May 1996. His first term lasted until July 1999. Netanyahu returned to the premiership in March 2009 and has since served multiple terms. His tenure has included legal proceedings such as Case 1000, Case 2000, and Case 4000, with formal indictments issued in November 2019. He is married to Sara Netanyahu, and their family has been frequently referenced in public and legal contexts.
