MOON: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Wednesday released a fresh 3-D photo of an impact crater on the moon’s surface captured by the Chandrayaan-2.

AADHAR FOR MIGRANT: The government has allowed migrants to change address on Aadhaar by giving self declaration, a move aimed at helping them open bank account and promote financial inclusion. The changes were made by amending the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Rules, according to a gazette notification issued on Wednesday.

TRUMP IMPEACHMENT: The US House launched the first public hearing Wednesday of Donald Trump’s impeachment investigation, the extraordinary process to determine whether the 45th president of the United States should be removed from office.

RTI BOOST: The Chief Justice of India is a public authority under the  Right to Information Act. A Supreme Court  constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi upheld the 2010 Delhi High Court verdict on Wednesday and dismissed the three appeals filed by Secretary-General of the Supreme Court and the Central Public Information officer of the apex court. Apex court said: “The information sought in Civil Appeal No 2683 with respect to which judges of the Supreme Court have declared their assets does not constitute the personal information of the judges and does not engage the right to privacy. The contents of the declaration of assets would fall within the meaning of personal information‖ and the test set out under clause (j) of clause (1) of Section 8 would be applicable along with the procedure under Section 11 of the RTI Act. In view of the above observations, Civil Appeal No. 2683 of 2010 is dismissed and the judgement of the Delhi High Court dated 12 January 2010 in LPA No 501 of 2009 is upheld”. Read more

SAMBAR LAKE: Thousands of migratory birds of around 28 species were found dead around Sambhar Lake, the country’s largest inland saltwater lake near Jaipur.  Since Monday, 2,338 dead birds were found by forest teams combing the area, however, the official toll stood at 1,500.

HATE CRIME:  In US the largest number of hate crimes based on religion were reported against Jews (835), followed by Muslims (188) and Sikhs (60). According to the FBI report, 91 hate crimes were reported against other religions, including 12 against Hindus and 10 anti-Buddhist crimes. According to the Federal Bureau of Justice Statistics, Americans experience an average of 2,50,000 hate crimes per year; this latest FBI data, by contrast, only managed to document 7,120 incidents.

US ELECTION: Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that she is being urged by “many, many, many people” to enter the 2020 presidential race and wouldn’t rule out a third White House bid, though she has no plans for a run. “I, as I say, never, never, never say never,” Clinton, the 2016 Democratic nominee, told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I will certainly tell you, I’m under enormous pressure from many, many, many people to think about it.”

METROPOLITAN MUSEUM NY: Nita Ambani, the founder, and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, has been elected an honorary trustee of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. On Tuesday, the museum’s chairman Daniel Brodsky said: “Mrs. Ambani’s commitment to The Met and to preserving and promoting India’s art and culture is truly exceptional. Her support has an enormous impact on the Museum’s ability to study and display art from every corner of the world.”

KARNATAKA MLAs: Disqualified Karnataka MLAs on Wednesday welcomed the Supreme Court verdict allowing them to contest the December 5 by-elections in the state. Upholding the then Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar’s decision to disqualify MLAs, the apex court had however struck down a portion of his order restricting them to contest polls till the completion of the present term of the House, which ends in 2023. The Disqualified MLAs can now join BJP. Read more
