Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:-
(a) Whether the Government is aware that State of Karnataka is not having single AIIMS, if so,
the reasons therefore; and
(b) whether the Government proposes to set up one such institute in the State, if so, the place
identified for such purpose and time by which it is likely to be setup in Karnataka?

(a) to (b): Under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), All India Institute of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are set up in different parts of the country, keeping in view the gaps
in the availability of tertiary healthcare facilities. Tilll date, 22 AIIMS have been approved under the
Scheme. A proposal for setting up of AIIMS at Hubli – Dharwad region in Karnataka has been
received from the State Government. The proposal has not been approved.
He asked questions on Increasing the Income Limit for Cremy Layer in OBCs and received the following answer on 9th February 2024:
Part(a) to (c): A proposal for revision of the income criteria for determining the Creamy Layer amongst the OBCs is under consideration of the Government.
