Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray takes oath as the 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra

Citizenship Act : The home ministry has invited chief ministers of northeastern states besides leaders of socio-cultural bodies, students’ organisations and political parties from the region for discussions over the next two days on the plans to amend the Citizenship Act, officials said on Thursday.

Telangana: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Thursday said that all Telangana State Road Transport Corporation employees can join duty from Friday. “The TSRTC unions misled the employees to join the strike. It has only resulted in trouble for the employees who have not received salaries since two months. My government has never taken away anything from anyone. We have only filled the stomachs of the poor. Tsrtc employees are like my children and I will take care of them. I am telling everyone to join duty from tomorrow morning. There are no conditions, they can just resume from tomorrow. But I want to warn that if the employees still believe or follow the unions then no one will save them,’ KCR said.

Hong Kong : US President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed into law congressional legislation backing protesters in Hong Kong despite angry objections from Beijing, with which he is seeking a deal to end a damaging trade war.“I signed these bills out of respect for President Xi, China, and the people of Hong Kong. They are being enacted in the hope that Leaders and Representatives of China and Hong Kong will be able to amicably settle their differences leading to long term peace and prosperity for all,” Trump said in a statement.

Rajapaksa: President Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived in New Delhi on a three-day visit, signalling his intent to deepen bilateral ties with India. On Friday, Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold extensive talks to explore ways to further expand the already close ties between the two neighbouring countries.
