Fake news is more dangerous than paid news and there is need for the government and the media to combat it jointly, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Thursday. The government will not take any step that may curb media freedom, the minister said and suggested there should be some kind of regulation on over-the-top platforms (OTT), as there is for the print and electronic media as well as films.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday refused to stay the release of the film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy starring Chiranjeevi. The film will be released on September 2. The division bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A. Abhishek Reddy dismissed the petition filed by the Tamil Nadu Telugu Youth Association, which alleged that the filmmaker is misleading people by making a biopic on freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.
