Citizenship Bill agitations : Almost all civil society organisations in Manipur announced today that they will join the Citizenship Bill agitations on October 3 throughout the Northeast region in protest against the moves to pass the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. A meeting of the representatives of the civil society organisations and social activists was held in Imphal today to reaffirm their stand against the Bill.
Disqualification of Sikkim CM : The Election Commission on Sunday reduced Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamangโs disqualification period by almost five years under a provision of the electoral law, paving the way for him to contest the State Assembly election. His disqualification period of six years, during which he was barred from contesting polls, was to end on August 10, 2024, but the EC reduced it to one year and one month.
Industry 4.0: On September 28, The Ministry of Railways and Department of Science & Technology in partnership with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur launched a pilot project for implementation of, โIndustry 4.0โwhich is a subset of the 4th industrial revolution, at Modern Coach Factory (MCF) at Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh (UP). This launched project would be undertaken under the aegis of โTechnology Mission for Indian Railwaysโ (TMIR).

HS Arora: On September 27, Air marshal HS Arora who currently heads the Gandhinagar (Gujarat) headquartered South Western air command was appointed as the new Indian Air Force (IAF) Vice Chief. He will succeed Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria who will take over as the Chief of Air Staff on September 30, 2019.

Brexit: Boris Johnson vowed today to stay on as Britain’s prime minister even if he fails to secure a deal to leave the European Union, saying only his Conservative government can deliver Brexit on Oct. 31 no matter what. At the beginning of his party’s annual conference in the northern city of Manchester, Johnson wants to rally his party with the “do or die” message that he will deliver Brexit by the end of October, with or without a deal.
US: A US federal judge has dealt a new blow to President Donald Trump’s anti-immigration efforts, blocking a measure meant to relax the criteria for deporting undocumented migrants. The judgement was on a policy known as expedited removal under which migrants previously found within 160 kilometers of the border within 14 days of their arrival were deported without appearing before an immigration judge.

India rebuts Pakistan :ย India, on Saturday, strongly criticised Pakistan’s stand on the Kashmir issue as “propaganda” at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Uganda and said the military rule is the tradition of Islamabad, according to an official statement.

Dividend from RBI: The government may seek an interim dividend of about Rs 30,000 crore from the RBI towards the end of the financial year to meet its fiscal deficit target of 3.3 per cent of GDP for 2019-20, sources said.
Investment of Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest oil exporter, is looking at investing $100 billion in India in areas of petrochemicals, infrastructure and mining among others, considering the country’s growth potential. Saudi Ambassador Dr Saud bin Mohammed Al Sati has said India is an an attractive investment destination for Saudi Arabia and it is eyeing long-term partnerships with New Delhi in key sectors such as oil, gas and mining.
Ban on onion export: The government today banned exports of onions, a common ingredient in cooking, as prices remain high due to a seasonal shortage which has been worsened by flooding in several states. The government said exports will be prohibited with immediate effect.
PSU: The government on 28th September set October 15 as the deadline for central PSUs to clear overdue payments to vendors and contractors as it looks to lift economic growth from six-year low by boosting expenditure.
