In ‘Mantrârtha-Dipikâ’ Srila Vishwanâth Chakraborty has explained Kâmbeej citing evidence from the shâstras –
“kâmânâm swâbhilâshânâm cha beejam yadvâ kâmoddipanasyabeejam athavâ kâmayih purnam beejam kâmabeejam.”
Meaning – “The seed that fulfils the desire of ‘kâm’ and excites ‘kâm’ is ‘Kâmbeej’. It may also mean the seed that is full of ‘kâm’.”
Goutamiya-tantra cites the characteristics of Kâmbeej as follows –
“The mantra is useless without the beej. Kâmbeej is made up of five ornaments. It is supremely remarkable. It has ‘k’, ‘L’, ‘I’, ‘half-moon’, ‘moon-dot’ – these are its five ornaments. Unified they sound as ‘klim’.”
Brihad-Goutamiya-tantra has further rexplained Kâmbeej as –
“’K’ refers to the Supreme Being Sri Krishna Who is sach-chidânanda personified. ‘I’
stands for the eternal Supreme nature Ishwari Srimati Râdhârâni, Who is the Mistress of Vrindâban. ‘L’ indicates the joyful prem of Sri Râdhâ-Krishna that is highly pleasurable, and the ‘chandra-bindu’ (the half-moon with the moon-dot) reveals Their blissful and sweet kiss.
Srila Vishwanâth Chakraborty has quoted in Sanat-samhitâ to describe the Deity-form of Kâmbeej –
“Kâmbeej has a Deity-form. All the letters of Kâmbeej are non-different from Sri Krishna’s Deity. Listen carefully
– ‘K’ is His head, forehead, eyebrows, nose, eyes and ears. “L’ is His cheeks, jaw-line, chin, neck, throat and back. ‘I’ is His shoulder, arms, fingers and nails. The half-moon is His chest, abdomen, sides, waist and navel. His thighs, knees, legs, ankles, heels, feet, toes, and nails comprise the moon-dot. Dear Nârad, thus we see that Sri Hari’s form is Kâmbeej.”
This scripture also says –
“The letters of Kâmbeej are like the five flower-arrows wielded by the Love-God. Please listen – ‘k’ = mangoblossom, ‘l’ = ashok, ‘i’ = malli, half-moon = mâdhavi, moon-dot = bakul flower”.
