Contemporary Sanatan Dharma

An eternal principle is expressed in the Vedas through the term Śruti (श्रुतिः), signifying that which is timeless and revealed. In the Atharva Veda, Śruti is associated with an enduring, universal principle. Those who follow Śruti are referred to as Sanātana Dharmins, later identified by outsiders as Hindus. Śruti is understood as manifesting through the entire cosmos and is linked with Brahman, the ultimate reality. One who realizes or comprehends Brahman is called a Brahmana.
