Vacancy and Pay Scale :
The High Court of Gujarat, in view of the guidelines issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the Case of Malik Mazhar Sultan & Anr. V/s. U.P. Public Service Commission & Ors. and as per the provisions prescribed under โThe Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005โ (as amended from time to time) invites Online Applications from eligible candidates for filling up approximately 219 Regular Vacancies (existing & future), for selection, by way of Competitive Examinations, for the Cadre of Civil Judges in the PayScale of Rs. 27,700 โ 770 โ 33,090 โ 930 โ 40,530 โ 1080 โ 44,850.
The Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) shall be of 100 Marks, the duration whereof will be 02 Hours, consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) each of 01 Mark with Negative Marking of 0.33 Mark for each Wrong / Multiple

(ii) The language of the Question Paper of Preliminary Examination will be English Only.
(iii) Preliminary Examination Paper (Objective Type) shall be assessed / evaluated by the Computer, as per entries made on OMR Sheet. As the evaluation is being done on the Computer by Scanning, there is no human intervention and hence, queries relating to rechecking of the OMR Sheets, subsequent to the Preliminary Examination, will not be entertained by the High Court.
(iv) In view of amended Ruleยญ7, viz. Clause (aa) of SubยญRule (2) of
Ruleยญ7 of โThe Gujarat State Judicial Service (Amendment)
Rules, 2019โ, Candidates who have not passed Secondary as
well as Higher Secondary Examination with subject of Gujarati
(Higher Level at both stages) are required to pass the vernacular
(Gujarati) Language Proficiency Test as prescribed below and to
secure minimum 40% Marks for being eligible for being called for Main Written Examination.

(v) To become eligible for Main Written Examination, the Candidate ยญ
has to secure 50% or more Marks in the Preliminary Examination
(Elimination Test) and must have also passed their Secondary and
Higher Secondary Examinations with subject of Gujarati (HigherLevel at both stages);has to secure 50% or more Marks in the Preliminary Examination
(vi) The Marks obtained by the Candidates in the Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) as well as the Test of Gujarati Language shall not be taken into consideration for preparing the
Final Merit of the candidates.
(II) (A) Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type) :

(i) The Main Written Examination shall consist of Two Papers,

(ii) Language of Question PaperยญI & Question PaperยญII of Main Written Examination shall be English. Answers to Questions of Papers I & II of Main Written Examination may be given either in English or in Gujarati, if not instructed otherwise.
(iii) The Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes & Scheduled
Tribes, securing minimum 45% Marks and all other Candidates
securing minimum 50% Marks in the Main Written
Examination shall be eligible for being called for Vivaยญvoce (Oral
Interview) Test, provided the Candidate has secured minimum
40% Marks in each paper.
(II) (B) Vivaยญvoce (Oral Interview) Test :
(Tentatively scheduled on 09/10/2022)
(i) Vivaยญvoce Test shall be of 50 Marks.
(ii) The object of the Vivaยญvoce Test is to assess the suitability of
the Candidate for the cadre by judging the mental alertness,
knowledge of law, clear and logical exposition, balance of
judgement, skills, attitude, ethics, power of assimilation, power
of communication, character and intellectual depth and the like,
of the Candidate.
(iii) For being eligible to be included in the Select List, the Candidate
must have obtained a minimum of 40% Marks in the Vivaยญvoce Test.
(iv) In view of the amended Rules viz. Sub Rule (1)(i) of Ruleยญ11 of
โThe Gujarat State Judicial Service (Amendment) Rules,
2014โ, since โCharacterโ and โSuitabilityโ of a Candidate holds an
important and paramount place for being considered for
