Pakistan PM: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday condemned the Citizenship Amendment Bill which was passed in Lok Sabha at midnight and said the legislation violates the norms of international human rights laws and bilateral agreements with his country. He twitted: We strongly condemn Indian Lok Sabha citizenship legislation which violates all norms of int human rights law & bilateral agreements with Pak. It is part of the RSS “Hindu Rashtra” design of expansionism propagated by the fascist Modi Govt.
Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday night expressed delight over the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha, saying the proposed law is in line with India’s centuries-old ethos of assimilation and belief in humanitarian values. The Lok Sabha passed the Bill with 311 votes in favour and 80 against it a little past midnight after a debate that lasted more than seven hours.

His tweet celebrating the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in 2019 Lok Sabha polls is the most retweeted and liked tweets of the year, according to Twitter. CAB: Hours after the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) suggested the Donald Trump-led government to consider imposing sanctions against Home Minister Amit Shah over the Citizenship Amendment Bill, India Tuesday termed the reaction as “neither accurate nor warranted”. “The position articulated by USCIRF is not surprising given its past record. It is, however, regrettable that the body has chosen to be guided only by its prejudices and biases on a matter on which it clearly has little knowledge and no locus standi. Neither the CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill) nor the National Register of Citizens (NRC) process seeks to strip citizenship from any Indian citizen of any faith.” MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.
Sena on CAB: Shiv Sena has backed the Citizenship Amendment Bill passed in Lok Sabha on Monday. Sena MP Arvind Sawant told NDTV that the party supported the bill in the “interest of the nation”. “The CMP (common minimum programme) is applicable in Maharashtra only,” he added.
Punjab: THE PUNJAB government has rejected the Centre’s proposal to consider restricting supply of foodgrains to the central pool for Public Distribution System (PDS) and buffer stocks on grounds that it has recorded a surplus in buffer stocks — more than double the capacity of 307.70 lakh metric tonnes (LMT).
Naxal Died: Ravulu Srinivas alias Ramanna, who was in his late 50s, died at a forest in Bijapur district last week. The top Maoist leader, who was at the helm of Naxal activities in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region and carried a reward of Rs 40 lakh on his head, has died of a heart attack.

SBI NPA: As per the risk-assessment report of the Reserve Bank of India, the State Bank of India (SBI) is reported its non-performing assets for the fiscal year FY19, by Rs 11,932 crore. The divergence in gross non-performing assets (NPAs) assessed by the central bank for SBI was Rs 11,932 crore in FY19. Similarly, the divergence assessed by the RBI in net NPAs was Rs 11,932 crore for FY19.
