News Air Force chief: Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria, who is currently serving as the Vice Chief of Air Staff, will take over as the new Chief of Air Staff, succeeding Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa, who is set to retire on September 30.
Chidambaram’s in Jail: The judicial custody of P Chidambaram in the INX Media case has been extended till October 3 by Supreme Court on Thursday.

U.S. calls Saudi attack an ‘act of war’: Secretary of State Mike Pompeo used the strongest terms yet from an American official to describe the strikes on Saudi oil facilities, and said that the U.S. was working to build a coalition to deter further attacks.
SANAA: Yemen’s Iran-backed Huthi rebels on Wednesday (Sep 18) threatened to attack dozens of targets in the United Arab Emirates, including in the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. “We announce … that we have dozens of targets in the UAE, among them Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and that they can be targeted at any moment,” Huthi military spokesman Brigadier Yahya Saree said.
Federal Reserve cuts interest rates again: The U.S. Federal Reserve cut rates by a quarter percentage point, the second time since late July, and suggested it was prepared to do more if the economy showed continued signs of weakness.
Myanmar: Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the country’s civilian leader and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, may face prosecution for crimes against humanity stemming from the military oppression of Rohingya Muslims.

Reserve Bank of India-recession: For RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, there was no recession as of today in the global economy but there was a hostile environment to which India’s external sector had shown great resilience and viability.
Provident Funds: Govt notifies 8.65% interest rate for over 60 mn EPFO members for 2018-19
Economy Slowdown: There is no financial crisis in India, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Thursday, adding that the central government was taking all necessary steps to strengthen the economy.
Bank Strike: All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) said they proposed to go on strike from 6 a.m. on October 22 to 6 a.m. on October 23.
IIT Employments: The Indian Institute of Bombay (IIT-B) leads India’s representation in the latest QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2020 with a 111-120 band ranking, up from 141-150 band last year. At 151-160 band and 171-180 band, IIT Delhi and IIT Madras formed the three best-ranked Indian institutes in the latest rankings.
