Fundamental Guidelines of Govt Policy: Preserving Jewish Character

The government of Israel aims to uphold the right of the Jewish people to a sovereign state, prioritize national and personal security, reduce living costs, promote economic competitiveness, and address social disparities. It also emphasizes education reforms, immigrant absorption, and environmental protection while respecting religious diversity and pursuing governance and legal reforms.

Fundamental Guidelines of Government Policy

Government of Israel

  • The Jewish people have the inalienable right to a sovereign state in its national and historic homeland, the Land of Israel.
  • The Government will advance the political process and work towards a peace agreement with the Palestinians and with all our neighbors, while safeguarding the security, historic and national interests of Israel. If such an agreement is reached, it will be brought before the Government and the Knesset for approval, and if required by law, to a national referendum.
  • The Government will actively work to bolster national security and to provide personal security to its citizens, while fighting against violence and terror decisively and determinedly.
  • The Government will work to reduce the cost of living in Israel in all areas, including and primarily with regard to housing, food and energy.
  • The Government will work determinedly to reduce concentration and increase competitiveness in the Israeli economy, including among banks, insurance companies and investment firms, with the goal of making the services provided to citizens cheaper, and to allow for cheaper and more accessible credit for small- and medium-sized businesses.
  • The Government will work to advance professional training and education in technology-related professions, address the current needs of industry in Israel, which is a primary engine of economic growth.
  • The Government will work to narrow the gaps in Israeli society, while ensuring equal opportunities in education, strengthening the health system, advancing women and minorities, caring for the elderly, fighting poverty and increasing the assistance provided to the weakest parts of the population.
  • The Government will make developing the geographic and social periphery in Israel a national goal. The Government will work to prioritize providing various services, with the aim of creating equal opportunities for its citizens regardless of where they live or their socioeconomic status.
  • The Government will place education at the top of the list of national priorities and will work to advance reforms in the education system.
  • The Government will emphasize advancing students, soldiers and teens, and will assist at-risk children and teens as much as it can.
  • The Government will work to integrate people with disabilities of all kinds into the social fabric while assisting in their education and employment; and it will address the basic needs of those who are unable to do so for themselves.
  • The Government will work to increase assistance to families with children under the age of three.
  • The Government will make the issue of Aliyah and immigrant absorption a top priority and will work decisively to increase immigration from around the world.
  • The Government will preserve the Jewish character of the country and the legacy of Israel, and will respect the religions and traditions of the members of other religions in the country, in accordance with the values outlined in the Declaration of Independence.
  • The Government will work to change the method of government in order to increase governance and regime stability, and will advance reforms in the area of government to improve stability and governance.
  • The Government will work to strengthen the rule of law in Israel.
  • The Government will work to defend the environment in Israel, improve the quality of life of its residents and ensure Israel’s participation in contributing to the global effort on issues related to climate and the environment.
  • The Government will work to strengthen the Negev and Galilee.
