Zelenskyy Rallies Ukraine After Oval Office Humiliation, Calls for United Diplomacy for Peace
“We Need Peace, Not Endless War” โ Ukrainian President Seeks European and American Unity Amid Rising Tensions
Kyiv, 3 March 2025 โ In his first address to the Ukrainian nation following a disastrous and humiliating diplomatic encounter with Donald Trump in the Oval Office, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy struck a defiant yet conciliatory tone, emphasizing the need for diplomacy and collective global action to secure lasting peace.
Returning from a series of high-stakes meetings in Europe, Zelenskyy reassured Ukrainians that Kyiv has strong backing from European allies, despite the deepening uncertainty surrounding U.S. support. “There is clear support from Europeโgreater unity, stronger readiness for cooperation,” he declared, highlighting the commitment of the United Kingdom, the European Union, Norway, and Tรผrkiye in standing with Ukraine.
A Diplomatic Shift After Washingtonโs Setback
Zelenskyy’s address comes at a pivotal moment, as U.S.-Ukraine relations hit a new low following his Oval Office clash with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. The meeting, which devolved into a public scolding of the Ukrainian leader, underscored Washingtonโs growing impatience with Kyiv. Trumpโs insistence that Zelenskyy “show gratitude” for past military aid, coupled with his increasingly pro-Kremlin rhetoric, has left Ukraine scrambling to consolidate European support.
Acknowledging the reality of shifting alliances, Zelenskyy underscored the importance of continued engagement with Washington while making it clear that Ukraine cannot afford to rely solely on the United States. “There will be diplomacy for peace. And for the sake of all of us standing togetherโUkraine, the whole of Europe, and necessarily America,” he said, emphasizing a new multilateral approach.
Security Guarantees as the Path to Peace
Zelenskyy reiterated that “real peace” can only be achieved through concrete security guarantees, a stance that resonates across Europe as fears grow over Russiaโs long-term ambitions. “We need peace, not endless war,” he stated firmly, calling for a strategic alignment of European and American priorities.
In the coming weeks, Kyiv will present its vision for a lasting peace to its allies, seeking binding commitments that go beyond short-term military aid. “All of us in Europe will shape our common positionsโthe lines we must achieve and the lines we cannot compromise on,” Zelenskyy affirmed, signaling a push for a new security framework.
A Message of Resilience to the Nation
Despite diplomatic setbacks, Zelenskyy struck a hopeful note, praising the Ukrainian people for their resilience. “I want to thank all of youโour warriors on the frontline, all our people. I am proud of you,” he declared, reaffirming Ukraineโs determination to stand firm against Russian aggression.
With the geopolitical landscape shifting, Zelenskyyโs address marks the beginning of a crucial phase in Ukraineโs war effortโone that will test the strength of its alliances and its ability to secure peace on its own terms.

There Will Be Diplomacy for Peace and for the Sake of All of Us Standing Together: Ukraine, the Whole of Europe, and Necessarily America โ Address by the President
Dear Ukrainians!
We are returning home.
As a result of these days, there is clear support from Europe. Even greater unity, even stronger readiness for cooperation.
Everyone is united on the main point โ for peace to be real, real security guarantees are needed. And this is the position of all of our Europe โ of the entire continent. The United Kingdom, the European Union, Norway, Tรผrkiye.
Today, we coordinated our positions. There will be many meetings and joint efforts in the coming days and weeks.
There will be diplomacy for peace. And for the sake of all of us standing together โ Ukraine, the whole of Europe, and necessarily America.
Of course, we understand the importance of America, and we are grateful for all the support we have received from the United States. There hasn’t been a single day when we haven’t felt grateful. Because this is gratitude for the preservation of our independence: our resilience in Ukraine is built upon what our partners do for us and for their own security.
We need peace, not endless war. And that is why we say that security guarantees are the key to this.
In the near future, all of us in Europe will shape our common positions โ the lines we must achieve and the lines we cannot compromise on.
These positions will be presented to our partners in the United States.
Robust and lasting peace, and the right agreement on the end of the war are truly our shared priority.
And, of course, I want to thank you, all of you โ everyone in our beloved Ukraine who feels how much unity matters and how history changes when millions defend the dignity of their country. Our warriors on the frontline, all our people โ I am proud of you. I want to thank all of you. Thank you very much!
Glory to Ukraine!
